Q: What are the eligibility requirements for the PMP® exam?
The PMP® handbook specifies that the candidate must have:
- A) If the candidate has a bachelor degree or global equivalent the requirements are a minimum of 3 years of non-overlapping project management experience and 35 hours of project management training. The experience must have been attained in the last 8 years.
- B) If the candidate has a high school diploma the requirements are a minimum of 5 years of non-overlapping project management experience and 35 hours of project management training. The experience must have been attained in the last 8 years.

Q: Is it required to be a project manager to be eligible for the PMP® certification?
Often candidates believe that they must have the project management title to be eligible for the exam. We believe that this is not the case. According to the PMP® handbook, candidates must have experience in leading and directing project tasks. This kind of experience can be attained as a project manager, project coordinator or team leader.
Q: I managed and participated in several projects where PMI® good practices were not used. Are these hours valid as experience?
Yes, those hours are valid.
Q: Where can I find, the official conditions for the PMP® certification?
The PMP® handbook published by PMI® details the application process, eligibility requirements and application fees.
Q: How much does it cost to apply for the PMP® exam certification?
The current application fee is 405 USD for PMI® members and 555 USD for non PMI® members. The PMI® member fee is 130 USD. This information does NOT substitute PMI®'s official information.
Q: Does it compensate to enrol as a PMI® member?
At the current fees, the PMI® member discount is 150 USD which is actually higher than the PMI® member cost 130 USD. Furthermore you have significant advantages for being a PMI® member.
Q: Can I apply for the exam before completing the course?
The PMP® application process requires you to complete the course before submitting the application.
Your training company can eventually provide you with a certificate before the course finish date, upon a commitment to complete it.
Q: Is it necessary to wait for the PMI® confirmation letter to register for the exam?
Yes, the letter contains a confirmation number required to register for the exam.
Q: How long does it take to receive an eligibility confirmation from PMI®?
PMI® replies in no more than 5 working-days.
Q: Can I become a PMI® member and have a student discount?
Yes, you can. PMI® accepts graduated and pos-graduated students.
Q: How many questions are there on the exam?
There are 200 questions. However, there are only 175 that influence the passing mark. The other 25 are lab questions that PMI® uses for quality control purposes. Because these 25 questions are not identified, you should try to answer all questions correctly.
Q: How many correct answers are necessary?
PMI® does not release this information. Therefore you should try to answer as many questions correctly as possible.
Q: Do wrong answer count as negative points?
No. if you answer incorrectly you don’t win or lose points. Therefore we you should try to answer all questions, even when you are not sure about the answer.
Q: Is there only one correct answer for each question?
Yes, there is only one correct answer.
Q: Are the questions on the exam organized by knowledge areas?
Q: How much time do I have to study?
It depends of the quality of the preparation materials and on your level of expertise. Normally it takes most people from 100 to 300 hours. XPM elearning study plan forecasts 100 hours of study.
Q: How many times should I see the study materials?
We recommend that you study at least 3 times the XPM materials. On your first study iteration, you will gain a general understanding. On your second iteration you should understand most concepts. On your third you should consolidate all concepts.
Q: Should I join a study group?
Yes. A study group should help you to share and gain knowledge. We encourage our students to join study groups during and after the classroom and elearning training. We also provide online tools to facilitate the collaboration.
Q: Should I do exercises?
Yes. Exercises will help you to understand project management. Our training includes over 1100 questions and 100 exercises to consolidate your knowledge.
Q: Should I memorize concepts?
No. Most concepts should be understood instead of memorized. Understanding is often done by examples, tips and exercises. XPM training also includes flash cards to help you memorize/understand concepts.
Q: Should I do exam simulations?
Yes. Practice as many questions as possible. XPM offers more than 1100 exam questions.
Q: Is it necessary to take pencil, paper and calculator for the exam?
No. The exam site should provide you with these items.

Full payment of the enrolment fee is due at the time of registration. Your enrolment will be considered complete once payment has been confirmed.
We will accept payment from companies or other third parties organizations, only if such company or third party provides us with a valid Purchase Order containing acceptable payment terms and conditions.
No refunds are available for e-Learning courses. For refunds on classroom training, please note that:
On cancellations more than 5 days prior to the event, no training fees will be charged. However XPM reserves the right to charge costs from any resulting bank charges. On cancellations less than 5 days prior to the event, XPM Consulting may charge 50% of the enrolment fee plus any resulting bank charges.
Cancelled traditional classroom training
XPM Consulting reserves the right to cancel or postpone any training event.
To be eligible for a training certificate, the trainee should have a minimum of 75% of the total number of training hours. The trainee should complete the certificate information sheet available on traditional classrooms or online.
The elearning platform is generally available 24X7, but may be down during times of maintenance required for optimum system performance. XPM Consulting will make every effort to inform you of system downtime in advance, but, this is not always possible.
